ATLANTA (June 13, 2023) – Botanical Sciences, Georgia’s first physician-founded medical cannabis provider, announces that Montel Williams, a long-time medical cannabis advocate, military veteran, author, speaker and Emmy Award-Winning TV personality has joined its board of advisors. In this role, Williams will support Botanical Sciences’ mission to provide awareness, education, and access to medical cannabis, extending long-anticipated hope and relief to Georgians who suffer from any of the state’s qualifying medical conditions.
“We are grateful to have engaged Montel Williams at this stage of the company’s evolution. He has provided solid counsel based on his personal health journey and decades of advocacy, aligning with our medical-based mission to provide relief for those in need,” says Gary Long, CEO of Botanical Sciences. “We are honored he has accepted a seat at our table.”
Williams is an award-winning media personality, decorated Naval officer, entrepreneur, and wellness advocate, who was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS) in 1999. An early advocate of cannabis law reform in the United States, Williams saw patients being dragged out of their homes in wheelchairs by the police for using cannabis to treat their pain and was one of the few high-profile voices on Capitol Hill fighting for their rights. Over the past two decades, he has worked to pass cannabis legislation in key states and led the push for military veterans to access medical cannabis without the threat of losing benefits. In addition to his board appointment at Botanical Sciences, he serves as Founder of Lenitiv Scientific and the Inspire by Montel brand, while also hosting the “Let’s Be Blunt” podcast, which provides education and information on the cannabis industry.
“With the addition of Montel Williams to our board of advisors, we are well positioned to continue our education and advocacy work in the state of Georgia,” said Dr. Robin Fowler, Founder of Botanical Sciences. “We look forward to his consultation and leadership as we serve the patients of our state.”
Botanical Sciences is the only Georgia-headquartered corporation of the two licensed companies issued a Class 1 status by the state of Georgia, which legally allows a full-scale growth and production operation within the state for medical cannabis. Earlier this year, Montel Williams was the keynote speaker at the dedication ceremony at the 100,000–foot facility in Glennville, Georgia, which is currently growing and harvesting cannabis plants to produce a variety of formulas in tincture, capsule, and topical form. In latest news, the Georgia Access to Medical Cannabis approved Botanical Sciences to open six dispensaries in Georgia, announcing their first location in Pooler, Georgia and five others to follow in Cobb, Dekalb, Henry, Chatham, and Richmond Counties.
Patients who are registered for a medical cannabis card will be able to access cannabis medicine from all Botanical Sciences dispensaries. For updates on medical cannabis products and availability, as well as
